BEFORE YOU ORDER  - WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A CUSHION AND A PILLOW?

It is very important that you understand the difference between a cushion and a pillow. If you order the wrong type of cover, it will not fit your cushion or pillow correctly.

Cushions

Cushions are used on the seat and back of sofas and armchairs.  There are two types of cushion cover construction styles which depends on the fill used.- box and soft-box.

  • Box cushion construction is normally used for seat cushion and back cushions with forms. They consist of a top and bottom or back and front panel and a boxing strip that goes around the sides with a zipped closure in the back or bottom depending on whether it is a seat or back cushion. They can have a rectangle, T or ½ T shape.

  • Soft box cushion construction is normally used for back cushions and occasionally for seats.  They consist of a back and front panel with pleats or gathers in all the corners or just at the base, to allow for the fullness of the cushion, with a zipper along the bottom. They can have a rectangle, T or ½ T shape.

Pillows

Pillows are used as accents or occasionally grouped on the back of furniture. Pillow covers have pointed corners on all four corners with a zipper at the bottom. No pleats or gathers.  Important note – They can not be used to replace cushions covers with soft box construction covers. They will not fit correctly.

Pricing

Our pricing includes fabric and labor. Pricing is based on the size of the cushion or pillow, the fabric you select and design options. There is no extra charge for T or 1/2 T cushions.  If your cushion or pillow is larger than the listed size ranges, call us for a quote.

How to Order

  • Start by determining if you need cushion or pillow covers, see above.
  • Then, measure your cushion or pillow to determine the size range to order. These measurements are for pricing purposes only, detailed measurements will be requested after you place your order.

To measure for cushion covers, start by measuring the width of your cushion across the front and then from front to back for seat cushions.  Or, measure across the top and top to bottom for back cushions. Then multiply the width by the length to determine the square surface inches.  Use this number to select the correct pricing size range.

To measure for pillow covers, start by measuring the width of your pillow across the center from side seam to side seam and then measure from top to bottom. Then multiply the width by the height to determine the square surface inches. Use this number to select the correct pricing size range.
